Cricket Suburban play begins

Tha first round of th e Christchurch Suburban Cricket Association’s competitions started in cold, damp conditions on Saturday. Belfast won the toss and decided to let Merivale-Papanui have first use of the wicket in their match. After losing carlv wickets. Bill Shierlaw and Ken Stagg came together and advanced the. score to 202 for four before the innings was declared. -? Shierlaw scored the first century of the season with a bright 105 not out.
