Diamond Park favourite
N’ZPA Sydney I The trainer, Jommy , Smith, and jockey, Malcolm Johnston, have the chance of winning the Epsom-Metro-politan double with Over the Ocean a main chance for the $120,000 Metropolitan Handicap today. Over the Ocean, a New Zealand bred gelding, ran second to Kingston Town in the weight-for-age Rosehill Cup (2400 m at his last Start. Smith considers Over the Ocean the best chance of his Metropolitan runners although he also rates Reckon I’m Ready a good chance. The Melbourne mare, Diamond Park remains 7-to-2 favourite after three good Sydney runs which included winning the 2000 m Rosehill Cup. At her last start Diamond Park ran second to Silver Wraith in the 1750 m Hill Stakes at Rosehill on September 27. Just over half the 24-horse field for - the Metropolitan are New Zealand bred horses with the four-year-old gelding Big Bloke (SobigCummin), trained by Bart Cummings, seen as having the best chance along with Over the Ocean.
