Children’s books will be in the spotlight at the Centre Gallery in the Arts Centre today. Your children can meet some of their favourite authors, too, and enjoy some entertainment. The Australasian Children’s Book Fair begins at 10 a.m. and finishes at 4.30 p.m. Among the wide selection of recently published New Zealand, Australian, and Pacific books you can see, there are also displays bv some smaller publishers. Pumpkin Press, from Timaru, and Lotu Pasifika Productions, from Suva. Fiji, are represented. “Grandmother’s Teeth” author, Dinah Bradley, - and the author and illustrator of “Bidi Bidi,” Gavin Bishop arc on hand to meet parents and children. Some of the original
art works from their books are on show. Elsie Locke, the Chrsistchurch author, is showing the collection of children’s books she has gathered from various Pacific countries. A new book, “The Mouse in the Attic,” is being launched at the fair. This is a story for children ten years and older, and issetin Ashburton. Its author, Gloria Gibson, is here from Wellington for the launching 'of her book, published by Associated Book Publishers. At 11 a.m. the musical group, “Harmony,” periforms, and at 2 p.m. the McDougall Gallery “Outreach” readers are offering “something different.” ' . The fair is run by the Book Group, in conjunction with Every Edui caid and the Children’s Book Shop.
