Time machinations
“Time After Time,” which begins at the Avon tomorrow, is based on the conceit of having . a fictional H.G. Wells using his own time machine to chase an equally improbable Jack the Ripper from the London of 1893 to the San Francisco of today. Malcolm (“Clockw’ork Orange”) McDowell stars
as Wells, whose time machine certainly was his own brain-child — but only for a novel: while David Warner takes on the part of the nicely nasty villain. Mixing fact and fiction tothis extent certainly is stretching matters a little thin, but it still sounds like fun.
