Simpson leads ski contest
The Queenstown skier, Tony Simpson, has taken.over the lead in the “Boogie in the Bumps” competition after his first placing in the Bob Brown sponsored event at Mount Hutt on Sunday. On the biggest and hardest bumps of the series, Simpson won the open event from John Burton (Christchurch), while the women’s event went to the Aucklander. Helen Klisser, after a rerun with Kate Rattray (Christchurch) in the final. Simpson is now ahead of-the national freestyle champion, Geoff Hunt, as over-all leader of the series. Both Hunt and another top freestyler, Hamish Cochran, were unable to enter Sunday’s event, but will be back for what is sure to be an exciting finale to the series this week-end. Results:— ..
