Healthy profit for badminton
The Badminton Association is likely to pick up a healthy profit of between $l5OO and $2OOO from the New Zealand championships it staged earlier this month.
A final figure will not be known for several days, but the C.B.A. president (Mr Neil Gardiner) is confident that the profit will be within that range.
The profit has come partly from greater door sales than had been anticipated, and
the success of the catering arrangements. The championships, which were previously held at Christchurch in 1971, will be at Auckland next year, but there is a strong chance that Christchurch will stage one; of the three internationals between Australia and New; Zealand for the Whyte Trophy. The international contest will consist of three tests, likely to be at Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, in July.
