Tiger bites woman's arm off
NZPA Rome A 30-year-old woman who claimed that she loved a,nimals and knew them well- had her arm bitten off by a tiger when she tried to stroke it in the Rome Zoo at the week-end. She had climbed a low wall in front of the cages and put her arm through the bars to stroke one of the royal Bengal tigers inside. The big cat grabbed her arm with its claws and bit it clean off. Shortly before, a zoo guard had reprimanded the same woman for stroking a jaguar after scaling the barrier around its cage, guards said. “All Italians should have their heads cut off,’.’ she was reported to have answered, adding that she loved animals and knew them well. ’ The zoo director later said he had personally raised the tiger, which was Usually peaceful.
