Work stops at port
The Lyttelton waterfront was idle yesterday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while members of the Harbour Board Employees’ Union and watersiders attended the funeral of Mr Francis Noel Hardwicke, who died on. September 19 while at
the helm of the floating crane Rapaki. A. union spokesman said that the stoppage was not only to allow members to attend the funeral but in protest against an alleged one-hour delay in obtaining the services of a doctor ' after Mr Hardwicke had collapsed. ...... .
