China bars collect calls to N.Z.
NZPA Correspondent Hong Kong The Government plans to seek a communications agreement with China which will permit collect telephone calls to be lodged from China to New Zealand. Previous “de facto” dealings with China under which such international telephone calls could be lodged abruptly ended in August. , Journalists travelling with the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) on his seven-day State visit to China discovered such calls could not be made. Subsequent investigations carried out by diplomatic staff revealed that now only 22 countries may have collect calls lodged to them.
