Charles finishes fourth
NZPA-Reuter Leeds Bernard Gallacher, of Britain, scored his first victory since early last season when he won the Haig Whisky golf tournament by three strokes at Moortown yesterday. New Zealand’s Bob Charles finished on 273 in fourth equal place. The 31-year-old Scot finished with an even-par 69 for a 72-hole .total of 268, eight under par, to win the first prize of £9OOO. Bernhard Langer, of West Germany, closed with a 65
and Nick Faldo, of Eritai; with a 67, to share second place on 271. two better than Charles, Denis Watson, of South Africa, _ and Sam Torrance, of Britain. The United States Masters champion, Severiano Ballesteros, of Spain, did ,not rr cover from a triple bogey seven he took on the final hole of the third round. He closed with a three-over-par 72 yesterday for 274 and a share of seventh place with Tienie Britz, of South Africa, who had 67 yesterday.
