Cup Challenge
Special correspondent .. Auckland
Delightful Lady will have three more races before she travels to Christchurch for the New Zealand Trotting Cup at Addington early in November, and they will come in the space of eight days, M.' J. Stormont, Delightful Lady’s trainer, said after she won the C. F. Mark Memorial at Alexandra Park on Saturday night. The races will be at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting : on October 22, 25 and 29. • “She will race on all three nights,” he said. "Before and after that meeting, we may give her a run at a matinee dr two.” The $lOO,OOO Addington race will be held on Tuesday, November 11, and
Delightful Lady is expected to start from 15m, the back mark.
This does not concern Stormont unduly. “I don’t mind her being there,” he said, “because she always goes away better.when she is by herself.” Delightful Lady was well fancied in the New Zealand Cup last year but she failed to settle down in new surroundings and finished out of the money. Instead of going by road and sea, Stormont this time will fly her to Christchurch. “She will go the day before,” Stormont said, “so she should be all right.” Her other major assignments will be the Auckland Trotting Cup and the InterDominion Championships at Hobart in Tasmania.
