Festival plans
PA Tauranga Plans to hold the 1981 Nambassa festival at Onetai, near Hikataia, have been abandoned. It now seems that the event will return to the Waihi area. Farmers in the Waitawheta Valley, the site of the first Waikino all-day music festival nearly four years ago, have generally welcomed the idea of another well organised crowd-controlled festival.
The organiser of the festival, Mr Peter Terry, said that he was happy with the response from prop e r t y-owners and would deposit his new site plan with the Ohinemuri County Council for its consideration. Commenting on the adverse reaction by residents in the Onetai Valley area to the festival proposals there, Mr Terry said he could appreciate their misunderstanding of the situation.
