Rubber company wins award
A subsidiary of Skellerup Industries, Ltd, Christchurch, has won an export award from the Trade Promotion Council. The Batavian Rubber Company, Featherston, has achieved export performances which automatically entitle it to ah. award.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Skellerup, Ltd, the company specialises in rubber and plastic manufacturing for local and overseas-markets.
The managing director of Skellerup (Sir Valdemar Skellerup) said that balloons, gloves, and swimming caps were the main products of Batavian Rubber. The company earned overseas funds of more than $1 million last year, and increased/its export trade by 102 per cent. The products are exported to 87 countries.
The subsidiary was absorbed into the .Skellerup group about 20 years ago.
