Walking proves popular
Christchurch pedple seem to like the idea of walking to get fresh air, exercise, and views of the local scenery, if the experience of a new walking club is any guide.
A meeting held by the Young Women’s Christian Association to set up a walking club, which will be called the “City Ramblers,’’ attracted 45 people, of whom only three were men. “It was rather a shock because we don’t usually get so many,” said Mrs E. D. Friis, who organised the meeting.
Two groups have been set up. One will meet every Tuesday, and the other every second Wednesday. The Tuesday club’s first ramble will be on September 30, the Wednesday group will start on October 1. Their first jaunt will take them on a tour of inner Christchurch, ’
