The Choose Electric ’80 exhibition

A comprehensive collection of electrical appliances from over 30 exhibitors from throughout New Zealand will be on display at the “Choose Electric 80” exhibition which starts at the Christchurch Town Hall today. The exhibits range from sophisticated technical control equipment for the electrical industry to the latest Appliances for the home.

Each exhibitor has a representative of his company present to answer any queries about the various products on display.

The following firms have exhibits at “Choose Electric *80.”

Armoured Freightways Limited will be featuring Computa-Guard, a unique system designed to save your business or industry

time, money and manpower.'

Associated British Cables Limited manufacture a complete range of general wiring and mains cables from fuse wires, flexible cords, appliance and building wires to pa p e r-insulated leadsheathed steel wire or steel tape armoured cables. The exhibit illustrates the wide range of products manufactured and highlights some of the recent developments. Avon Electric Limited has central heating for factories, offices and homes, now available in the form of an electric furnace, . adapted to replace oil burner systems by Bremca Industries Limited of • Christchurch. Brandt Electronics 1975 Limited established its manufacturing operation some three years ago with an initial range of light dimmers. The range now includes , electrical accessories — domestic light dimmers, plug in thermostats, light , sensitive switches and variable speed controllers. The company .is also well known for its earth leakage circuit breakers and it noW manufactures pocket size radios, portable radios and clock radios. Bremca Limited has a high reputation, for manufacturing electrical equipment such as switchboards and control panels. Its full range of activity will be explained at the exhibit stand.

Canterbury Engineering Company Limited was established in 1909 as a general electrical and mechanical engineering firm. In 1914 the company participated in the construction of the Lake Coleridge Power Station and since then the company has become a major supplier of electrical distribution equipment. Its large stand at the “Choose Electric ’80" exhibition will feature some of its latest reticulation- switching equipment and some of its long established and proven products. Champion" Appliances

Cory-Wright and Salmon Limited have been associated with many important electrical and mechanical engineering projects and wholesale distribution of a wide range of equipment, since commencing as a partnership in 1922.

Cuthbert Stewart Limit* ed have been importers and distributors to the electrical industry for over 50 years.

Duhnison (New Zealand) Limited will be introducing -a new concept in high voltage insulation at the exhibition.

Exal Glasshouse Equipment, Limited, Christchurch, was formed as a result of an increasing demand for more sophisticated and reliable control equipment in horticulture, specifically in the glasshouse industry. Electropar Limited, importers, exporters and manufacturers of special electrical . engineering products since 1950, have been . closely associated with the Electrical Supply Authorities for many years. ' G.E.C. (N.Z.) Limited is subsidiary of The General Electric Company Limited of Great Britain and is one of the world’s leading electrical and electronic manufacturers.

Control Technology Limited are electronics engineers and electrical equipment suppliers specialising in the industrial field, their trade display will feature Sunx Beam sensors, Yoshida oiltight control units, both new to New Zealand; as well as the traditional lines such as panel instruments, indicators and lamps, pushbuttons, timers and electronic counters. Giles and Elliott Limited specialise in the design and manufacture of switchboards, control panels and fuse gear! E. C. Gough Limited was founded in 1940 and today the product range includes high voltage distribution equipment, street lighting lanterns, safety equipment and test instruments.

N.Z. Safety, Limited is the largest supplier of Industrial Safety products in New Zealand. Its primary function is the supply of products such as safety footwear, hard hats, gloves, overalls, respiratory equipment, safety spectacles and safety belts to industry in New Zealand.

. Oliver J. Nilsen (NZ), Limited manufacture and assemble industrial switchgear, fuse gear and motor control gear; plastic moulding, tool making, pressing and sheetmetal working; P.D.L. Sales, Limited are stockists of P.D.L. electrical accessories and Abcal cables and are New Zealand distributors for Electromaid appliances, Skope heating products and Powerflo multi boxes and extension cords. Plessey (NZ), Limited will be exhibiting elements of their Power System Manager concept.A. and R. Price, Limited. Switchgear Division — a member of the Cable Price Downer Group of t companies —• manufactures the well known range of Yorkshire SO-HI distribution switchgear in New Zealand. Ralta, Limited will run continous demonstrations from the top 12 kitchen electrics at the exhibition, including the original kitchen wizz, the crock pot, frypans and pot pourri, mini fryers and coffee makers.
