New job for priest
PA Dunedin The Rev. John Palmer, the Caversham Anglican priest’who supported the Rev. Felix Donnelly, of Auckland, in his stand on homosexuality earlier this year, has been appointed to the staff of. St John’s parish, Invercargill. The appointment was confirmed yesterday by the Bishop of Dunedin (the Rt Rev. P. W. Mann).
Father Palmer showed his support for Father Donnelly by painting the words, “Father Felix, freedom fighter,” on his fence. Soon after the incident he resigned the Caversham post and asked for three months leave without pay. At the time, Bishop Mann said Father Palmer had resigned after “personal difficulties with questions of ethics and authority.”
