Newspaper inquiry The Canadian Government has appointed a royal com-, mission to probe the effects of concentration of ownership in the newspaper in-' dustry. The move followed the closing last week of two newspapers-'in Ottawa and Wirinipeg: and a deal between the two main publishers, Southam Incorporated and Thomson Newspapers, affecting their interests in Montreal / and Vancouver.
