Dizzy fun of blanket tossing
Getting tossed in a blanket is a scary experience, according!' to eight Craig Gibbens, who was ’Tossed” in Cathedral Square yesterday. \ ' “It made me a wefe. bit dizzy,” he said,. ’ • ) Craig was one of almost 300 children who took to the Square at lunchtime yesterday to publicise the Y.M.C.A. street appeal. The children had ‘ been at the Y.M.C.A. Christchurch South and Christchurch South-East holiday programmes. After tossing each other in blankets, they competed with the Wizard by loudly
chanting the Virtues of the Y.M.C.A. It was a warm up exercise for the tug-of-war competitions. The Christchurch SouthEast team was the stronger of the two, and scooped the field by winning all three tugs-of-war. The children were joined by the Three Penny Folly, a folk group that entertained them during the holiday activities. The group had a break from performing yesterday. “They were just having a good time,” said Mr D. Fitzgerald, co-ordinator of the Christchurch South holiday programme.
