.Dressed in period costume, Diane Pattison married Charlie Ferguson on the 1.50 p.m. train to Rewanui. Standing outside the train before its departure are (from left) the best man, Peter Curtain, the groom the bride, and the bridesmaid, Judy Nacekibell. The couple were married at Rewanui, after an 11.2 km railway journey up the incline to the Liverpool State Mine, by a Justice of the Peace, Mr J. G. Beckwith, yesterday afternoon; ' The train of two car-
riages and a guard’s van travels daily to the mine, at 1.50 p.m. to bring home mineworkers, since rail is the only means of access to Liverpool. The only condition laid down for the marriage was that it could not be conducted while the train was moving. The proceedings were covered by photographers and by television, and followed by groups making the popular excursion trip in the school holidays. The newly-weds were accompanied back to Greymouth by the home-bound miners.
