The Supervising Teacher of Junior Classes, or what used to be known as the Infant Mistress before men , started entering the teaching profession, popped in to a class of New Entrants, or what used to be .known as Primer I, to listen. “Me Mum said,” the boy went on, “that he ought to come.” “Eh?” said the teacher. “Yeah, so everyone could see how boozed he was.” The teacher looked despairingly at the STJC. The STJC spoke, .“That’s the sort of thing we call a Home Secret,” 'she explained. “We don’t tell Home Secrets at school.” “Oh,” said the boy. “Will Mum be angry?” “No,” said the STJC, but she would be embarrassed. We all do funny things at home sometimes, but we don’t talk about them at school. I don’t tell you eyerything I do at home, do I?” “Oh, I see,” said the boy happily. He nodded in total comprehension and smiled up at the Supervising Teacher of Junior Classes. “You get boozed at home too?”
