However, scattered showers pay persist in western districts. Over the South Island a few showers in the west and south but cloudy areas and remaining rain elsewhere clearing. . Canterbury: Rain in the Alps and , occasional . falls spreading elsewhere but becoming fine and milder in the morning; variable ■winds.

Marlborough: Becoming fine today after overnight rain apart from isolated coastal showers; light winds. Nelson: Rain at first with some heavy falls likely but fine and mild today with south-westerlies fresh in exposed places. Buller, Westland: Rain, at first . with some heavy falls likely; fine apart from isolated showers and cool south-westerlies developing. Outlook: Fine in Canterbury and Marlborough, mainly fine with' some showers in Nelson, scattered showers in Buller and Westland.
