Brave 'few’
Next Sunday the anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be observed, in memory of a great victory won by fighter pilots of the Royal Air Force (R.A.F.). The battle in. the skies over Britain began about a month after France surrendered in June, 1940. Air raid shelters became the nightly refuges of dwellers in target areas while the long battle raged overhead. Planes of Fighter Command and their valiant pilots . ha-
rassed German bombers until the air offensive eased at the end of October. When the battle was over the war-time Prime Minister, Sir . Winston Churchill, expressed the feelings of the British people in these well-cho-sen words — “Never have so many owed so much to so few.” The R.A.F.
