The Union Steam Ship Company’s Union Hobart, which had been held up in Sydney when watersiders there went on strike for several days, is. now expected to arrive at Lyttelton today direct from Sydney. The Marama, also a Union Company roll-on-vessel, and a frequent visitor to- Lyttelton, is reportedly not going to sail from Sydney until today, although she , had been scheduled to sail ■ for. Wellington, and then Lyttelton, leaving Sydney on August 31.
The Union Lyttelton, which was not affected; by the Sydney strike, did .run into industrial action at Melbourne last week .when a dredgemaster’s dispute developed into a stoppage by tug crews followed by industrial action by watersiders at that port. She sailed on August 29 and is. now expected to call at Lyttelton on Thursday after- v discharging and loading at Wellington. '■"■■■' A spokesman for the Union Company .said that Tasman schedules may be disrupted for some weeks as the result of the Australian port stoppages. The Union Hobart is due for a crew change when she berths today to remain overnight and sail for Dunedin tomorrow.
One crew member, who has been in Lyttelton for several days waiting to join the Union Hobart, said
