Crestello wins top award
PA • ; Wellington ' - Crestello, dam of the highclass sprinter-milers Silver Nymph and Silver Wraith, has been named “Broodmare of the Year” by the council of the New < Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association;Crestello was the principal recommendation of the selection panel consisting ■ of the Keeper of the Stud Book (Mr Bernard Neazor) and pedigree expert Miss ■ Pat O’Brien.. Other mares considered werei Mikarla, dim of Hyperno, Pease, the dam ■of Little Brown Jug, the Bergin Award winner as top three-year-old last week, and. Bravata, dam of Brava Jeannie.
Crestello is owned ‘in Auckland by her breeder Mr Bob Cheak. She is an 11-year-old by Crest of the Wave from the Arragon mare Ardo'ra. In the 1979-80 season she was represented by two runners, both stakes winners. ‘ Crestello has three other foals of -racing age Silver Braid (now at stud), Better Crest, an. unraced three-year-old, and an ■■ unraced'. two-year-old brother to Silver Nymph and Silver Wraith.
