Quiet N.Z. market
The New Zealand sharemarket opened the week on a quiet note inj mixed trading yesterday. A. J. White’s preference shares rose 40c to 100 c-j ahead of the news of a bid by H. W. Smith, Ltd, and N.Z. Petroleum was’* steady at 400 c on a moderate turnover. Winstone continued to ease, but;, Dalgety N.Z. gained 6c to 238 c.
