Stagehand charged with murder of violinist

A New York Metropolitan Opera stagehand was charged at the week-end with: the murder-of the viollihist Helen Hagnes Mintiks who was hurled to her death from the roof of ths Opera House last month. . k ■ .Craig Crimmins, aged 21, was , arrested after an totensive -investigation by 50 detectives. i /The police said Crimmins
resembled a description provided by witnesses who saw Mrs Mintiks, aged 31, in an elevator with a man moments after she disappeared during a performance of the Berlin Ballet on July 23. Mrs Mintiks had left her seat in the orchestra pit during an intermission, saying she intended to talk to the defected Soviet choreographer and star dancer Valery Panov of the Berlin troupe. Her nude, bound and gagged
body was discovered the next day in an airshaft. The police said she had put up a violent struggle with her attacker. An autopsy showed she was still alive when she was hurled from the sixth floor of the building to a steel ledge and wooden planks 20m below in the cooling shaft
The medical examiner said there was evidence of sexual assault hut not of rape.
