Wairarapa Bush wins
PA Masterton Wairarapa Bush scored a shock 17-12 win over Wanganui in a national second division- rugby match at Masterton on Saturday. Wanganui went into the game as warm favourite but was outplayed by a Wairarapa Bush team which produced its best performance of the season. Hero of the Wairarapa Bush side was the half-back, Graeme Anderson, who scored two tries, but it was the forwards who paved the way for victory. The loose forwards, Carl Baker and Joe Wyeth, were in devastating form .and the lock, Mike McCool, starred in the line-outs. ‘
The Wanganui captain, Ray Stafford, had a strong game, at No. 8 but the only Wanganui back to shine was the half-back, Andrew Donald. - . .
