Campaign to kill hemlock
The Christchurch City Council’s annual fight against the poisonous hemlock plant will start soon. A publicity campaign will help people to identify the plant, which has a seedling leaf resembling a carrot top. Control or eradication of the plant will be required on all land by November 30. The council and Drainage Board will be asked to take special care in getting rid of hemlock from their land. Window displays at some places in the city will also help residents recognise the plants at different growth stages.
