County checks noise problem
■ Community centres, hotels; and places where there are| gatherings will have to get; permiss’on from the Heath-! cote County Council if they[ want to hold functions in the county lasting later than| midnight. ; The council decided on the] move after considering, two [ letters complaining about! noise late at night after] functions, at the Cracroft Community Centre. The meeting decided to send a letter to the centre reminding it that a condition of its lease of the Old Stone [
House was that it did not cause a noise problem to neighbours. Functions at the centre were not supposed to continue after midnight. Cr J. Richardson said that new conditions of hire for the centre should solve the problem within two months. The County Chairman (Mr J. M. McKenzie.) said that places of public assembly should be reminded of the bv-law forbidding excessive noise between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The. meeting appointed Mr W. I. Leonard as the county’s new dog ranger. Mr McKenzie said the, county nad been without a dog ranger for some time,. although it had not wanted the fact known.
