Strong 100km field

New Zealand’s most illustrious ultra-long-distance athlete, Roger Alcorn, formerly of Christchurch and now of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, will start favourite in New Zealand’s first 100 km international trade race, at Queen Elizabeth II Park today. Alcorn, who holds the record for the annual Symon and Lowther 100 km race,
with a time of 7hr 16min 325, will head a distinguished field in today’s race, which will start at 8 a.m. One of Alcorn’s strongest rivals is expected to be the noted Australian, Don Keyssecker. One of the most rugged and tenacious entrants will be a former winner of the New Brighton 50-mile race, Stewart Hill,
