Not guilty of murder
PA Auckland A jury in the High Court at Auckland last evening found a young man not guilty of murdering Arthur Victor Schiemy, aged 63, of Ponsonby. After deliberating for 3| hours the jury found Jeffrey Peter Stringfield, aged 20, of Ponsonby, not guilty on a charge of murder but guilty of the aggravated robbery of Mr Schiemy.
Mr Schiemy died after being stabbed and robbed in his home on the evening of February 22. Also on trial was Trevor James Davis, aged 18. The jury found him not guilty of a charge of aggravated robbery. A charge of murder against Davis was withdrawn during the course of the four-day trial .
