Annoying noise
Daily pub-band noise, even in the mornings, is causing complaints from neighbours of the Aranui .Motor Hotel.
Christchurch City Council health inspectors yesterday said that work done in the past to reduce noise from the hotel had not brought any significant improvement. “The premises are not particularly suitable for stopping noise emissions,” said Mr T. Moody, a supervising health inspector. Noise levels measured
by testing had been above the maximum allowable, he said.'
Gr Noala Massey said that the 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.daily band practices added to the problem. “The noise is greater than street noise, and that’s saying something for Pages Road,” she said. Those most affected seemed to be elderly returned servicemen in nearby Sandilands housing. Health inspectors said they were still working with hotel owners to ease the noise problem.
