Mixed-up feelings
Around Christchurch, most people think the “Kiwi Courtesy Campaign” is a good idea, but there are mixed feelings about the standard of courtesy extended to visitors and locals; .. Kevin Potter and Julie Harrington, Mount Cook Travel consultants: People are not courteous enough; like in the Post Office. Americans find - New Zea-, landers friendly but some say people have been a bit short with them. For too many in the travel industry it’s- just another job.
Andrea Dawber and Gavin Smith, of the Clarendon Hotel staff are l okay because they’re employed to be courteous. We’ve only, had ■ brie complaint. That was from a
man who had been on the rampage throughout New Zealand. But he was just out to complain. Brenda Blease and Pauline Highsted, of Noahs Government Departments cannot match our service but they should. After all it’s a service, too. Visitors should take New Zealanders as they find them, just as we take them.
New .Zealand has a good reputation for courtesy. Christchurch taxi-driver New Zealanders are very courteous. The average joker in the taxi-industry gives five-star plus courtesy. But the campaign is a good idea. Wayne Dennis, a bus driver It’s a good idea. People in Christchurch aren’t courteous at all.
