Villa-Lobos
The Brazilian composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, was the first South;, American composer to- achieve international . recognition . and fame. He is perhaps best known for his Bachianas Brasileiras, “evocations of Bach in a Brazilian spirit,” and much else in his prolific output has a Brazilian national flavour. A variety of the music of VillaLobos can be heard from the Concert programme next week. Charles Nalden discusses the /Brazilian composer on the Concert programme on Sunday at 10 a.m.
