100 days for attack on Garner
NZPA Los Angeles A freelance photographer was ordered to spend 100 days in jail in Los Angeles for assaulting James Gamer, star of the television series, “The Rockford Files.”
The photographer, Aubrey Williams, aged 35, was also placed on probation for three years. Superior , Court Judge Char 1 e s Woodmansee stayed the jail term until September 10 pending the outcome of an appeal by Williams against his conviction. ■
Williams was found guilty of assaulting Gamer, aged 52, who plays an easy-going private detective in the television series, after their vehicles were involved in a minor collision last January. Gamer said in evidence last June that Williams had hit him about 10 times and kicked him in the head.- . ■ ,
Asked if :he tiad tried to punch Williams, Gamer, who spent four days in hospital after the incident, replied: “I’ didn’t land a blow, but I did try to bite him.”
