Tom Scott now has to wait
PA Wellington The satirical columnist of the “Listener,” Tom Scott, will not know- until he arrives in New Delhi next week whether he has been accredited as a jour* nalist to cover the Commonwealth heads of government conference next week.
Earlier this month the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said he would try to stop Scott being given official accreditation to cover the conference.' However, a request to the Commonwealth Secretariat to refuse the journalist’s application was rejected by . the secretary, Mr Sonny Ramphal at the week-end, who suggested
that Mr Muldoon should deal directly with the Indian ■ Government on the matter. Mr Muldoon will travel on to China after the Delhi conference, and has categorically refused to include Scott in his official party. The decision effectively prevents the columnist from covering the China leg of the trip.
