Third or fourth mostly, Super Byrd sprinted best and was increasing his winning margin over the pacemaking Golden Prince (Schell Hanover-Prince Aurora) at the line. Third home was Motu' Marie, with Nuclear Hanover fourth. Even Speed, predictably, ran out an easy winner of the main trotter’s heat. Colin de Filippi had the gelding in the trail throughout and he soon mastered the pacemaker,

Game Mander, over the final 200 m to go on and win easily by two lengths in a leisurely 3min 41s. Regal Guy, which rushed to an early lead, then trailed Good Going from the 900 m, was a dashing winner of the C 5 trial. The chestnut was far too strong in the straight to beat Good Going by a length in 3min 32.65, after sprinting the final 400 m in 30.75. True Peterson held third, with Scholar going easily right behind the leading bunch for fourth.

; Good Going, which sprinted hard from the rear to lead at the 900 m, went a fine trial for the Goggin Handicap, the second leg of the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday. . Coringa Light -; was the fastest, but Tact Wave the most impressive of the four CO and Cl heat winners.

Tact Wave tangled early and was giving the field 30m when he settled. However, he closed on the leaders quickly over the final 200 m and went on to win by a head from Coleridge Prince and Jersey Silk in 3min 39.75, a solid trial for the Wainoni Handicap on Saturday evening. Coringa Light narrowly beat Up To You and the unlucky False Regal in 3ritin 31.3 s in the first maiden heat. Historic Arrival held out a fast-finishing dab from Regal Girl in the second, and Newparks, after a prolonged struggle, mastered the pacemaking Afore Ye Go to win the third minor trial. Results:—
