The odd-looking bird in the colouring picture belongs to a rare species. Only three exist and their time in Christchurch will be short — just 11 days. Already they have been around since last Saturday, and some of you will have seen them at the Repertory Theatre. .
The bird is one of the three gale birds in “Listen to the Wind,” the play being performed by the Canterbury Children’s Theatre for your entertainment in the school holidays. The colouring picture was drawn by a member of the 1 theatre group.
When you colour the picture, try to imagine the gale bird as he is described in one of the songs — “My father was a sea gull, my mother was a wren . . . My Grandpa was a phoenix; and always having crashes? We’d see him - coming - down . in
flames and rising from the ashes ...” A bird with a life history like'that should colour up well. You will hear other delightful songs in “Listen to the Wind,” an exciting play about the adventures of three children kidnapped by gypsies. .> •'
