Hobson vote ruled wrong
PA Wellington The National Party’s president (Mr G. A. Chapman) said yesterday that last Thursday’s election of delegates by the Hobson branch of the Remuera electorate was not in order. The meeting chose delegates for the committee which will select the party’s General Election candidate. Mr Chapman’s statement followed assertions by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Highet), the sitting member of Parliament in the area, that the meeting was stacked against him and-that four of the 11 chosen had been party members less than 48 hours.
