Security of houses
Sir, — How sad we feel about the brutal death of Alicia May O’Reilly. I suggest that to prevent breaking and entering, security chains can be fixed on to an opening window. (Some windows are unsafe when left open for ventilation). This allows for ample ventilation without the risk of easy access into the room. Hardware stores supply short lengths of chain and advise how to fix it. This simple precaution is a worth-while protection. — Yours, etc., A. DELHANTY. August 21, 1980.
