Testing the breeze rising from the Scarborough cliffs is a white-capped mollymawk which was found exhausted in a paddock on Mr E. Hibberd’s Leithfield farm a week ago. The yearold male bird spent several days in the care of Christchurch Wildlife officers recovering from the buffeting he suffered at sea dur-
ing recent stormy weather. Strengthened by a hearty fish breakfast and boosted with cod liver oil, the mollymawk was released on the cliffs. After several minutes of flexing and preening, he spread his wings and launched his 16kilogram body towards the sea. Picture by DAVID CHARTERIS.
