10 Commandments: copies on offer
PA Hamilton A Hamilton woman is trying to interest schools in buying copies of the 10 Commandments to hang in their buildings. Mrs Bessie Amner has been writing to high school boards asking if they want to buy the hangings at $9 each, to cover the costs of printing and postage, she said. Many boards have not replied + o her letters. Some schools have bought them. Mrs Amner said she had
been writing to boards throughout New Zealand., Her crusade was prompted- by discussions about the Johnson 'Report and the teaching of morals and values in schools Many parents had said there seemed tr be nobody to teach things such as the Commandments, she said. Mrs Amner said she did not want to stir up trouble about religious teaching in schools, but thought some schools might want to buy the hangings.
