Labour candidates
A Springfield poultry farmer, Mr W. E. Woods, has been named the Labour Party candidate for the Selwyn seat in the 1981 General Election.
Mr Woods, who was the only nominee for the seat, was Labour’s candidate for
Selwyn in the 1978 election.
A school teacher, Mr C. G. Hayward, will be Labour’s candidate for the I Rangiora seat.
Mr Hayward, aged 26, is a Rangiora Borough councillor and chairman of several local community organisations. The only other nominee
was Mr R. A. Lowe, the Canterbury secretary of the Labourers’ Union.
About 80 party members, filled the St John Am-
bulance Hall at Rangiora last evening for the selection.
