Woman lay on road; run over
PA Auckland A Papakura woman who drank a hallucinatory potion later lay on the road and was run over by a truck, the Coroner’s Court at Otahuhu was told.
The police said that the woman. Heather Katherine Green, aged 30, had been at a party in Mangere where people had smoked marijuana and drunk the potion. A witness, Ashley Iremonger, said he went with Mrs Green to a Mangere house where they both drank a glass of liquid which was passed round. They left later. He drove the car, but felt ill and asked Mrs Green to take over. He stopped and could remember Mrs Green getting om of the car, but that was all. A motorist who had been passing said in a statement that he had had to swerve to avoid a woman who was staggering on the road. The truck driver, Donald Jacobs, said he was driving on the road at 10.45 p.m., and did not have time to stop when he saw Mrs Green lying on the road. He ran over her. The Coroner (Mr A. D. Copeland) said no blame for the accident could be attached to’Mr Jacobs. He found that the death of Mrs Green on June 8, was a result of head injuries suffered when she . was hit by the truck while she was under the influence of a hal- , lucinatory drug.
