Old stock, new price
PA • Hamilton It is legal for shop owners to sell most old stock at new prices as soon as a [price increase is announced, [according to the Department ]of .Trade, and Industry. It had been asked to comment on the experience of a Hamilton man who was asked by a shop employee this week if he wanted to buy a bottle of cleaner before the price went up as another employee moved along the shelf changing the price tags. The department said that .apart from--a small list of pricp-controlled items, old stock had been able to be sold at increased prices since the removal of the Stabilisation of Prices Regulations in April, 1979.
