This gas street lamp; which has lighted the path for passers-by outside the,-,; Canterbury :■ Club in Cambridge Terrace for more than 100. years, will probably continue to shine ... ‘even 'when gas tothe rest - of Christchurch is cut off. The lamp, which is said by members of the club to be' the oldest working example in Christchurch and possibly New. Zealand, is likely to be' fired by liquefied petroleum gas. The chairman of the Christchurch j Gas Company/ Mr H. tW. Revell, said the company could keep the lamp going probably by putting a special pressure valve in'the chib .
