Track to be resealed
Canterbury athletes might find themselves moved from
their home ground at Queen Elizabeth II Park for several meetings in November. In. that month the Chevron track will be resealed, and the job is expected to take between . two and three weeks.. It will be the first resealing of the track since it was built for the 1974 Commonwealth Games.
Delegates at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Centre this week supported a motion from the executive committee that the national body changes its rules to provide for a 2000 m steeplechase for colts, instead of
its present 1500 m steeplei chase. ?.
Canterbury holds -its, colts steeplechase over 2000 m, but most' other centres favour the shorter distance. A .remit to. that effect will be forwarded to 'the New Zealand Association.. . The Canterbury track ; and field selectors for the 198081 season remain the same as last year. Teams will be
chosen by Messrs V. Briedis, B. Milne; and R. Grieve. The under-age selectors wilF-be Messrs- j; Bailey and Pa G. Davies, and Mrs D. Jameson. ' The 'new' president of the centre is -, Dr Roger Syme, who' will - take over that
