ENTRY QUALIFICATION Applicants should be physically fit, aged 16 to 18 years. It is essential that applicants have three 1 years secondary education and a strong outdoor interest. TRAINING Woodsmen undertake three _ years of ’raining commencing in January, 1981, with the first two years at either Aupouri Forest near Kaitaia, Kaingaroa Forest near Rotorua, Golden Downs Forest near Nelson, Ashley Forest near Rangiora, and Berwick Forest near Dunedin. In the third year woodsmen move to other forests for further experience. The training - provides a complete rotation of essential forestry work to develop practical skills. Following training woodsmen are transferred to Forest Service locations throughout New Zealand.
