New Zealand Electricity A division of the Ministry of Energy TRANSMISSION INTERCONNECTION Benmore-Ohau "C” Powerstations NEW ZEALAND ELECTRICITY, a Division of the Ministry of Energy, is proposing to c6nstruct a 220 kV transmission line between Benmore and Ohau C to reinforce the transmission link line between the Upper and MidWaitaki generating areas. This will give security and flexibility of system operation essential for the reliability of supply to the South Island system. Government approval of the project will be sought shortly. During June, 1980, a public notice announced the start of survey on the preferred route as shown on the map. All landowners over whose lands the line will pass have been notified and the Nature Conservation Council agrees with the line route. An environmental impact assessment has been prepared and sent to the Commissioner for the Environment, Nature Conservation Council, and all those organisations, etc. who were previously contacted. Copies of this assessment are available at this office on request. D. H. Jones, District Manager, Electricity Division, Ministry of Energy, P.O. Box 974, DUNEDIN.
