Full barley price offer

Growers would be interested to note the new optimism in the export barley trade in the light of the revised contract prices announced recently, said the chairman of the South Island export barley pool (Mr G. B. Robertson). The South Island pool was still the only company offering contracts providing for full market realisation.

Reporting on the first meeting of the full South

Island board of the pool at Ashburton, Mr Robertson said that directors had bsen appointed to represent Southland and Otago to give full South Island

coverage. The directors had moved to sat up the pool permanently and would employ a professional management team to run it.

Growers’ contracts would commit an area of barley to the pool and

ensure participation in the No. 2 pool, which ensured full market realisation. Barley for export by the pool would be delivered in March and April next

year. Growers’ meetings had been arranged in all barlev growing areas in the next week to enable farmers to hear the pools’ proposals and give them the opportunity to make known their contract requirements.
